One week and still sane

Co-chief Joanna Morgan celebrates: one week in and still sane!

Well relatively sane, or perhaps not any less sane than……

It’s been an intense first week, navigating between scientific discussions on the significance of some nice surprises in the drill core, and packed media-rich days, with visitors to the platform and interviews for the radio/press. I am having trouble sleeping – not because of the platform noise (which is quite loud), or the bunk beds (which are quite small and in a confined space), but just because of the science – I lie wide awake thinking about what it all means . It is actually just wonderful to be able to spend an extended period of time working on a single topic, with a group of similarly-focused scientists. And no cooking or cleaning.

The space station went over us and Tim Peake tweeted a photo from space – now that sort of thing doesn’t happen often. Super cool.
